WELLINGTON Pt. 1!

Hey Guys, as you probably know, my class just went on camp to our Capital city, Wellington. We had the best time, filled with laughter, walking and activities. We went to places like The Westpac Stadium, Weta Workshop, Te Papa and Capital E. Below is our whole plan of our trip. I was in charge of the ferry.

I have some pictures and a video based in segments of the days. Enjoy!

100 Word Challenge! Petit (Small)

Walking the darkened hallway at 10pm, I had just heard a big crash from the kitchen. It sounded like it was from a small animal. I flicked the light switch on, and I was confronted by a sight that hurt every inch of my brain.
'How could something so tiny create a huge mess?' I thought. The fridge door silently swung back and forth and the contents were all over the place. My draws were open, looking dilapidated and my cutlery had spilled onto the tiled floor. And in the middle of it was sitting a small spider. Laughing.

My Genius Hour Project!

Hey guys, Asher here. Today I have my finished VFX Genius Hour project, with info about VFX and much more. I chose this topic because I love every aspect of filmmaking, and VFX was the first part I was introduced to. Hope you enjoy reading and the short video at the end! PEACE.

My New Zealand Artist

Hey guys, Asher here. In class we have been doing NZ artist study, and I have 2 artists I have chosen. One is a group, and the other is by herself. We have created a DLO, or a Digital Learning Object to talk about them, and why we chose them. I think that schools in NZ should do more art, because it is important to learn about different areas in the industry, which also may give way to them becoming an artist themselves. Here it is!

100 Word Challenge!

Amnesia

When I woke up, it felt like I had been stabbed with a red hot sword, fresh from the furnace. My skin was red and raw, and I had no idea who I was. As I lifted my head to scan the room, a piece of paper lying beside me caught my attention. 'Dear Logan, you have been a subject of Test 197. Your mind has been wiped. Make your way down the stairs into the Briefing Room for your teaching.' It said. So I got off the bed, and painfully hobbled my way down the stairs. I had Amnesia.

100WC

A 'Beary' Good Day

The sun was shining, the birds were singing, the bears were driving.. Wait, bears? It was the annual Bear Picnic and the Mulbeary's were out in their black cadillac. It was a long drive, so they decided to stop for a break. They were very surprised when they had loads of people come and take photos of them and their car. As they sat there, being surrounded by what looked like the paparazzi, Papa Mulbeary made the decision for them to stay here for a little bit longer. He loved being in the spotlight.
So they did just that.

Term 3 Rimu Yr 8 Timetable!

Hey guys. Through the past term, we have been making a timetable to plan our week ahead of time. Green coloured squares mean I achieved good work standards, orange means almost, and red means bad work standard. Feel free to have a look at all my weeks and comment about if you think this is a good thing.

Loud Shirt Day: Who 'Whips' The Best? Leave A Comment!

Camera!! What are your thoughts?

Hey guys, so, last Monday I went into Harvey Norman and bought a Canon Powershot SX520 HS and I have been trying it out over the past couple of weeks. So far, it has been one of my BEST buy, with the quality being pretty much perfect. The only downside is video is only 30fps and it would be nice at 60fps. I think 60fps is wanted by any people just staring out, but it is best to go for something not as hardcore so you do get used to making videos. If you would like to see me unboxing the camera, the video down below is for you. Sorry about the time length, my editing software crashed and I couldn't edit it down. (Stupid I-movie.)
I will have some pictures up for you to look at on Monday. For now, enjoy the video.
 PEACE!

Miranda Caird: My NZ Artist.

Hey guys, Rimu class are doing NZ artists, which is where we choose an artist. I chose Miranda Caird. I chose Miranda Caird because I like her style, with the black lines and landscape focus. The photo below, as you can see, is hills, sheep and trees. And also water. You can also see how the black outlines everything. This is what caught my eye. Hopefully it does as well for you.

Teenagers Are Lazy: My Speech!

Hey guys, we just had our speech competition in our class. I chose, well you read the title of the post, right?

I chose this topic because I thought it would be a bit different then the normal ones, such as Smoking, Fitness, Screens. It was important for me because I am pretty much a teenager. The impact it might have on people is, hopefully they realise why their teenager/s sleep in later.
Enjoy!!

DigiAward Entry W/ Jack!

Hey guys, Asher here. As part of a contest called DigiAwards, run by Core Education, our class partnered up with each other and chose from either a video, music video, ripple effect or two other categories. Jack and I teamed up to make what we think is a pretty good video. A week later, we received an email from CoreEd saying that it would be wise to have the makers of the the video Everyday Heroes - Our Classmates to attend the prizegiving assembly at Burnside High School on Thursday. So that is what we are going to do. Anyway, here is the video. Enjoy!!

Skiing W/ School @ Mt. Hutt!

I am 3rd from the right in the gray, next to Logan (white) and Chloe (blue and yellow).

Hey guys, Asher here. Today my post is about, Skiing! Our Yrs 4-8 went to Mt. Hutt on the 28th of August.
We had a blast! Up the Quad, down the Terrain Park, Highway 72, Summit Six and for the beginners it was just the Magic Carpet. Anyway, today I am focusing on one of the funniest things that happened that day. But, before that I will tell you about the bus breaking down. Yeah.

We were halfway up the mountain when the bus started to stop, in the middle of a gear change. We grinded to a halt, and the bus driver tried to get her up and running again, with no luck. And, to add to the excitement, every time the bus started then stopped we rolled back a bit. The Year 4s were all frightened, and so were people from our class. Teachers, the bus driver and even Cayde are on their phones to various people. Josh (wat up man?) rocks up in his car, and Blake (How you bro?) and his Dad go with him up the mountain. Chloe (You well? Say hi to Veya for  me) also pulls up with Emily (Hey Immy, how's life? ;-) ) who then drive up with Me (woohoo!) and Logan, (Bro!). Cashmere School turns up, and give the rest of Yaldhurst a lift. But, enough of the bus. Time for the good stuff.

So, on the mountain, I have had my lesson, and I am going down Highway 72 again with Chloe, Emily, Jack, Blake and me. We are at the top and get going. Chloe has already fallen over, so we help her up. We set off again, and come to the first turn where we group up again. Apart from Emily, who is going fast, and can't stop. She then slams face first onto the icewall preventing you from going over the edge. It was Comedy cold, I mean Gold! We were laughing so hard, even Emily herself. We then got going, over the jumps, and into the tunnel, over the jump at the end of the tunnel, with me getting air of at least a metre. We then have a chuckle as Chloe falls over again. Fail. But, the definite highlight of that run was Emily's crash. Way to go, Immy! Jack had an EPIC fail. It involved a faceplant, a tunnel and the entertainment of us, but I'm running out of time today.  Skiing was definitely worth the perils and if you get the chance, do it! I LOVE skiing, and Mt. Hutt is one of the best places to ski. PEACE!
