3 Facts About The Waikato River!


1. The name Waikato comes from the Maori language and translates as flowing water.
2.The river starts as many small streams on the eastern slopes of Mount Ruapehu.
3.The Waikato's first hydroelectric power station was the Horahora Power Station, now located under        the Horahora bridge deep beneath the surface of Lake Karapiro.

  10. our school is next to that river and we go swimming and fishing in the river and it starts a taupo lake the biggest lake in new zealand
